YAMAHA XT 1200 [2016-2021] - Z-ring chain

The Regina 525 HPE Z-ring chain with rivet link sets new standards in the performance and durability of motorcycle chains. Thanks to its innovative technology, this highly developed chain no longer requires regular relubrication, which was previously required every 1,000 km. This represents a significant advance that not only simplifies maintenance but also extends the life of the chain.

Extensive testing in laboratories and on the road has proven that the HPE chain lasts at least as long, if not longer, than conventional, regularly lubricated Z-ring chains. A key element of this outstanding performance is the tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C) coating, one of the most advanced coatings in the group of DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coatings. This coating is applied to the surface of the bushings and rollers and reduces energy losses while increasing efficiency in the secondary drive.

The combination of extremely high hardness of the coated surface and a low coefficient of friction results in improved performance. Additionally, eliminating the need for chain cleaning and preventing lubricant splashes during operation helps minimize environmental impact. The development of this innovative coating process was carried out through intensive research and development work by Regina engineers in Italy.
