DUCATI 848 [2008-2019] - Z-ring chain

The Regina 525 HPE Z-ring chain with rivet link sets new standards in motorcycle technology. This high-performance chain does not require regular relubrication, which makes it particularly low-maintenance. The innovative Z-ring technology ensures that motorcyclists no longer have to lubricate the chain every 1,000 km, saving both time and resources.

Extensive laboratory and road tests have proven that the service life of the HPE chain is at least as long, if not longer, than that of a conventional, regularly lubricated Z-ring chain. Another highlight is the coating made of tetrahedral amorphous carbon (ta-C), which is one of the most advanced DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coatings. This coating is applied to the surface of the chain's bushings and rollers and reduces energy losses while increasing efficiency in the secondary drive.

The combination of extremely high hardness of the coated surface and a low coefficient of friction leads to improved performance. Additionally, the elimination of chain cleaning and lubricant splash during operation minimizes environmental impact. This technological innovation was driven by intensive research and development work by Regina engineers in Italy.
